It was a real slug-fest on the softball diamond at Washington High School Friday, April 21 when the Lady Blue Lions welcomed the Astros of East Clinton for an SCOL match-up as the old league winds to a close.

East Clinton won the game, 15-11.

East Clinton had 17 hits to 15 for Washington.

Meghan Tucker had one walk and three strikeouts. Ten of East Clinton’s runs were earned.

Sierra Christian also gave up 10 earned runs. She walked two and struck out five.

For Washington, Trinity Ragland went 3 for 3.

Annie Semler went 2 for 4 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBI; Maddy Jenkins was 2 for 4 with two RBI and one run scored; Kalee Crowe was 2 for 4 with two runs scored; Tucker was 2 for 4 with one RBI and two runs scored and Kelsey Inskeep went 2 for 4 with one run and two RBI.

For the Astros, Bailey went 4 for 4 with three runs and two rbi; Kayla Hall went 2 for 5 with three runs and six RBI. One of her hits was a home run.

Kaitlin Durbin went 3 for 5 with two runs and one RBI.

Taylor Boeckman, Tabby Vance and Miranda Beener each had two hits for the Astros.

East Clinton notched a run in the top of the first inning.

Washington answered, tying the game in the bottom of the second.

East Clinton then had back-to-back five-run innings in the third and fourth and Washington scored one in the third to give the Astros an 11-2 lead after four.

Both teams scored a single run in the fifth and Washington scored eight in the bottom of the sixth to pull to within one at 12-11.

East Clinton scored three in the top of the seventh and Washington was kept off the board in the home seventh for the 15-11 final.

The Lady Lions will host Wilmington Wednesday at 5 p.m.
