The sheriffs of Fayette, Highland, Pickaway, Pike and Ross counties joined together to endorse the Paint Valley Mental Health & Prevention levy, which will appear on the primary ballot in all five counties May 2.

The Paint Valley Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health (ADAMH) Board, with a service district that includes those five counties, is responsible for ensuring a comprehensive array of mental health, addiction treatment and prevention options are available to all residents of the service district.

The Paint Valley ADAMH Board has placed a 10-year, 1-mill levy on the ballot. It would levy $3 a month on $100,000 of property value.

Ross County Sheriff George W. Lavender said, “This levy is a top law enforcement priority. Children and families in our communities need the levy in times of crisis when they have no other counseling or treatment options, and no other places to turn. This levy helps loved ones with the emotional or mental health toll on families from drug abuse.”

Pickaway County Sheriff Robert B. Radcliff said, “The demand for mental health recovery and addiction services has increased, and state and federal funding has declined. No families are immune from a mental health crisis and this levy provides the counseling services that people deserve in times of crisis.”
