Panther tennis beats East Clinton, 4-1

The Miami Trace Panthers boys tennis team hosted the Astros from East Clinton in an SCOL match Tuesday, April 4.

The Panthers won this match, four courts to one.

At first singles, senior Juan Diego Navas defeated Elijah Howard, 6-0, 6-0.

At second singles, senior Seth Leach beat Jake Howard, 6-0, 6-0.

At third singles, Alex Pence of East Clinton defeated Ely Schirtzinger, 6-2, 5-7, 10-8. The third set was a super tiebreaker because the overall match was already decided, Miami Trace head coach Mitch Augenstein noted.

Junior Matt Fender and senior Thomas Bondi beat Jaren Evans and Blake Bronson, 6-2, 6-0 at first doubles.

At second doubles, a pair of juniors, Adam Ginn and Johnathan Allen beat John Cline and Josh Cline, 6-3, 6-0.

Miami Trace swept three j-v matches against the Astros.

Senior Todd Peterson and junior Drew Stanforth beat Lavi Bambie and Hayden Pirman, 8-3.

Freshman Jack Ivers beat Blake Williams, 8-2.

Freshman Devin Riggs beat John Cline, 8-3.

In an exhibition match, Miami Trace’s junior Nathan Taylor and sophomore Isaac Abare topped Peyton Hawkins and Dylan Jackson, 8-2.

Miami Trace has a home match against Hillsboro Friday at 4:30 p.m.
