LEES CREEK — The Washington Blue Lion varsity baseball team visited East Clinton High School Monday for an SCOL diamond match against the Astros.

Junior Grant Patterson dazzled the Astros with a complete game, one-hitter. He walked just two batters and struck out eight.

The Blue Lions played error-free baseball, while the Astros were saddled with seven errors.

The Blue Lion offense collected 11 hits and wreaked havoc on the base paths with 11 steals.

Conner started and took the loss for East Clinton. He pitched six innings with nine hits and five runs (three earned). He walked one and struck out seven.

East Clinton utilized three other pitchers.

Parker pitched one-third of an inning with three runs (all earned) and three walks; Arllano worked one-third of an inning with one hit, two walks and four runs (none earned) and Mitchell pitched one-third of an inning with one hit, one walk and one strikeout.

Washington senior Conner Chrisman went 3 for 5 with two RBI, three runs and five stolen bases.

Senior Jarett Patton went 2 for 5 scoring twice and driving in one run. Patton stole two bases.

Senior Brian Wilson was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI and one run scored.

The Blue Lions scored all the runs they would need with three in the top of the first.

Washington scored one in the second, then one in the sixth and seven in the seventh.

“Grant pitched very well tonight, (throwing) a complete game on 79 pitches,” Washington head coach Tyler Rhodus said. “Grant had good velocity tonight and East Clinton struggled to catch up.

“We took care of business by pitching well and making the routine plays on defense,” Rhodus said. “Both were very good tonight.

“At the plate we were a little inconsistent,” Rhodus said. “Late in the game we finished with better at bats.

“Our base running is a work in progress,” Rhodus said. “We take pride in base running and right now it simply needs to get much better.

“All in all, we took care of business and I’m proud of the guys for that.

With the win, the Blue Lions improved to 4-2 overall, 1-1 in the final-ever season of the South Central Ohio League.
