The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Rachel’s House to its roster recently.

Fayette County native Rachel McClish officially opened Rachel’s House Catering and In-home Dining for business in December of 2015.

Clients have the option to book an event at Rachel’s House, or have meals catered to them at their preferred location. Conveniently located just across from Miami Trace High School and McClish’s Plants Plus – her parents’ business – on State Route 41, meals are served buffet style from the adjoining kitchen. Complete with a Smart TV for meetings and handicap accessible facilities, the home can accommodate small meetings, family dinners and groups up to 30. In addition, box lunches, cookie trays, and catered events are available by reservation.

McClish has been baking and selling homemade pies, utilizing fruit from her grandparents’ small orchard, at the local farmers’ market since she was a junior in high school. “Throughout high school, I worked at my parents’ retail greenhouse operation and selling pies to faithful patrons,” recalls McClish. “During my college years, I was blessed to intern with a couple different agriculture companies out of state. While I appreciate the experience and perspective they provided me, I ultimately realized I have too much of my family’s entrepreneurial spirit. For generations, both sides of my family have been self-employed business owners or farmers. Apparently those tendencies must be hereditary!”

“It’s great to see another young adult return to the community to start their own business,” said Chamber president Whitney Gentry. “The majority of our chamber members are family owned businesses and we wish Rachel much success.”
