What’s happening at Carnegie Library?

Ideas are happening at your library! Let us be your source for all things D.I.Y. Whether you are planning your own vacation, building a chicken coop, or making holiday crafts, the library has the books you are looking for. With in-depth instructions, great pictures and diagrams, and ideas both trendy and traditional, our library and consortium of libraries have free resources for all of your projects. From craft beer to backyard gazebos, there’s a book for that!

On Thursday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. the library is offering “Color Therapy for Adults.” This popular trend is based on the belief that coloring is a great way for grown-ups to decompress. Call today and register; leave the rest to us!

On Nov. 20 at 4 p.m., the Carnegie Book Club will host a Harper Lee Discussion. We will talk about Lee’s recent release, her classic work, To Kill a Mockingbird, as well as her life and times. Previous attendees are welcome once again as we further explore the themes in Lee’s work, and talk about both the acclaim and criticism surrounding the publication of Go Set a Watchman. In 2016, the Library Book Club will focus on great works of modern literature. The group will meet six times throughout the year and is intended for both lifelong fans and first-time readers! Join us!

The Ohio Digital Library is open 24 hours and day, seven days a week! You can borrow free eBooks and audiobooks for your Kindle, NOOK, iPad, iPhone, Android, or other device with just your library card! Need help? Come to one of our e-Book drop-in sessions! Bring your device and library card; we will get you started! Sessions are from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Wednesdays through October.

For kids: Join us for Halloween fun! Little ones attending our weekly storytimes are invited to dress up for Trick-or-Treat in the library. Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. is Preschool Storytime for children 4 – 6 years old, and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. is Books & Blocks for children 1 – 3 years old. Siblings are welcome at either session. At 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays in October, children in grades 1 and up can join us for “Snack Fun” with Sarah Sowell from the OSU Extension office. Play games and quizzes, and help Sarah make and eat fun and healthy snacks!

In Jeffersonville: Next week will feature a very special Halloween Storytime on Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 11-12 for ages 18 months-5 years. There will be an in-library Trick-Or-Treat Parade where you can come in costume or come-as-you-are! Information about all of our programs may be found on the library’s website www.cplwcho.org, or by calling the Washington Court House Library at 740-335-2540 and the Jeffersonville Library at 740-426-9292.
