Getting Ahead: Jumping out

0

I know you have heard that if you put a frog in cool water and then bring it to a boil, the frog will stay in the water and boil to death.

The gradual rise in the water temperature does not affect him until it is too late because his body temperature rises with the water temperature and everything seems normal to him.

All he would have to do to save his life is to make a move and jump to safety.

There is also a story of an experiment that was carried out with fleas that were captured and put in a coffee can with a lid on it. The fleas sounded like popcorn hitting the lid for some time, then a few at a time quit jumping until finally you could no longer hear the sound of them hitting the lid.

The lid was then removed but not one flea tried again to jump to freedom because they had tried and failed to do so earlier.

Do you find yourself in bad situations that seem to be “just life” but are getting worse?

Are you just sitting there while these situations are destroying you?

Have you tried before and failed so you are not trying again? Could the lid have been removed and you do not realize it because you have quit trying?

These and other life questions will be addressed Sunday morning as “The Gathering Place Family” meets in the Washington High School Gymnasium at 10 a.m. for our Pre-Service Connection where we enjoy coffee, juice and donuts. Our Worship Service and Children’s Church then begins at 10:30. Come at 7 p.m. and be part of our Wednesday night Bible Study and Children’s Ministry on the third floor above Trends at 120 West Court St.
