The Miami Trace Lady Panthers opened the SCOL portion of the 2015 volleyball season with a home match against Chillicothe Tuesday night.

Chillicothe won, 25-6, 25-9 and 25-12.

“Chillicothe is just a really nice team,” Miami Trace head coach Doug Mace said. “They are very disciplined. They’ve been getting better the last couple of years.

“It just seemed like they kept the court balanced really well,” Mace said of the Cavaliers. “They had their kids in the right positions. You can tell they’ve been playing together for a while.

“For our kids, they’re trying to learn a new system,” Mace said. “Sometimes we’re on the same page and sometimes we’re not. Then we revert back to some old habits that we’re wanting to change.

“It’s going to be a growing and a learning experience for our girls,” Mace said. “We want to be like Chillicothe some day, but, we’ve got a lot of work to do before we’re ever like that.”

Miami Trace (0-2 overall, 0-1 SCOL) is at East Clinton for another SCOL match Thursday. The Lady Panthers are at Athens for an invitational Saturday and back at home Tuesday to take on Wilmington.
