Local sweet corn arrives at Market

Donut makers at the Fayette County Farmers Market, The Millers.

The first sweet corn of the season was at the Fayette County Farmers Market last week, but in a very limited quantity. More is coming this Saturday but the overcast, cool and rainy days have delayed maturing of the kernels of what was a successful early planting.

Thanks to all who came last week on the morning of July 4. Great weather and a good crowd kept us in a grand summer holiday mood, and many thanks to Matt of Streetside 62 for preparing and serving up those wonderful tacos with ingredients sourced from our farmers.

This week our volunteers will be sampling products from two more of our vendors, Katrina Bush and Alana Walters & Beth Day. Julie Carter of L&L Natural Products will also be at the market with her line of home produced products.

The Market is located in the municipal parking lot on the corner of S. Main and E. East streets and as always, SNAP EBT food benefit cards and credit/debit cards are accepted.
