Two sent to prison on heroin, cocaine charges

A Washington C.H. man and a Bloomingburg woman were recently sentenced to multiple years in prison after pleading guilty to several heroin and cocaine-related charges.

David Pettiford, 41, of 632 E. Temple St., and Leslie Coe, 32, of 11928 State Route 38 Northeast, were accused of making nine separate drug transactions from Oct. 23, 2014, to Feb. 23, 2015, according to the grand jury indictment. Coe and Pettiford were both charged with nine counts of trafficking in heroin, nine counts of possession of heroin, one count of trafficking in cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine.

Pettiford was sentenced this month in Fayette County Common Pleas Court to a total of 14 years in the appropriate correctional institute, and Coe was sentenced to a total of seven years in the appropriate correctional institute.

In April, a search warrant was served at the home of David Pettiford on East Temple Street by members of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force. Prior to the execution of the warrant, Pettiford and Coe were arrested at separate locations on the multiple drug charges handed down by a Fayette County grand jury.

According to the FCSO, a substantial amount of heroin and cocaine, as well as cash and a vehicle, were seized during the execution of the search warrant.

In court this month, Pettiford and Coe both pleaded guilty to six counts of trafficking in heroin, felonies of the fourth degree, two counts of trafficking in heroin, felonies of the third degree, one count of trafficking in heroin, a felony of the second degree, and one count of trafficking in cocaine, a felony of the fifth degree.

Coe also pleaded guilty to engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a first-degree felony, and two counts of trafficking in heroin, one a felony of the second degree and one a felony of the third degree, that stemmed from a separate indictment.

Pettiford also pleaded guilty to engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a felony of the first degree, two counts of trafficking in heroin, both felonies of the second degree, one count of possession of heroin, a felony of the third degree, and one count of trafficking in cocaine, a felony of the third degree, stemming from a separate indictment.

Both Pettiford and Coe are subject to five years mandatory supervision by the Adult Parole Authority upon their release from prison.

The court ordered that both Coe and Pettiford’s driver’s licenses be suspended for six months.

Coe was awarded 73 days jail-time credit and Pettiford was awarded 63 days.
