On a beautiful early fall evening, the Miami Trace Lady Panthers soccer team hosted the McClain Lady Tigers Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Miami Trace won the match, 4-2.
The Lady Panthers led McClain 1-0 at halftime.
Hanna Reisinger scored on a breakaway at the 34:22 mark of the first half.
In the second half, Reisinger scored with 35:31 to play.
Becca Ratliff scored for Miami Trace with 14:59 to play in the game.
The match seemed fairly well in hand for the Lady Panthers leading, 3-0.
But McClain had one more run left.
Taylor Polley scored both goals for McClain, at the 10:48 mark and with 2:47 to play in the game.
At that point, things got a little touch and go, as McClain strove to comeback to tie the match.
Lauren Truex scored with 52 seconds left to seal the victory for Miami Trace.
Earlier in the season, Miami Trace won at McClain, 8-2.
Taylor Barrett had four saves for Miami Trace.
Miami Trace had 13 shots on goal.
“We were up 3-0 with a little over 10 minutes remaining,” Miami Trace head coach Caitlin Francis said. “Then (McClain) put two goals in. Our girls decided they needed to pick up the intensity.
“I don’t think we played with the intensity we needed until the second half,” Francis said. “We have a lot more potential, I think, than we showed the entire game.
“We’re still working, so, we’ll get ready and play at Hillsboro Thursday,” Francis said. That match starts at 5 p.m.
Miami Trace is now 3-9 overall, 3-5 in the SCOL.
