Hillsboro wins final SCOL girls golf title

GREENFIELD — The final South Central Ohio League girls golf tournament was held Saturday, Sept. 24 at Buckeye Hills Country Club near Greenfield.

The weather was cool and overcast Saturday morning as the golfers set out to compete in the 9-hole tournament.

As a team, Miami Trace shot a score of 229.

The Lady Panthers placed fourth in the final league standings with a record of 5-10.

Tori Riley posted the low score of 54 for Miami Trace. The senior was named Second Team, All-SCOL for 2016.

Hillsboro’s Kristin Jamieson was the SCOL individual champion, with a score of 36. She was the only competitor to shoot under 40.

Also for Miami Trace, Morgan Eggleton shot a 57, Lindsey Worley had a 58, Makayla Eggleton shot a 60 and Macey Stires, 61.

Hillsboro claimed the overall team championship with a final record of 14-1.

Clinton-Massie was second at 13-2, followed by McClain in third place with a record of 9-6.

After Miami Trace, it was Wilmington in fifth at 4-11 and East Clinton sixth at 0-15.

Gabby Woods and Angela Miller of Clinton-Massie both had a score of 45 to share their team’s lead.

Veronica Olaker led McClain with a score of 47.

Heather Fryman led Wilmington with a 51 and East Clinton’s Katelyn Boysel had her team’s low score of 57.

Scores for Miami Trace, 229: Tori Riley, 54; Morgan Eggleton, 57; Lindsey Worley, 58; Makayla Eggleton, 60; Macey Stires, 61.

Scores for Wilmington, 232: Heather Fryman, 51; Lindsey Murphy, 57; Brooklyn Taylor, 61; Meredith Robinson, 63; Carrie Robinson, 75.

Scores for East Clinton, 255: Katelyn Boysel, 57; Egypt Sluter, 63; Hannah Stern, 65; Halie Rhinehiemete, 70; Cortlynn Cubbage, 74.
