London volleyball beats Lady Lions

LONDON — The Washington Lady Blue Lion varsity volleyball team went to London Saturday, Aug. 27 for a match against the former SCOL opponent Red Raiders.

London won the match, 3-0.

Scores of the sets were: 25-18, 25-13 and 26-24.

For Washington, Halli Wall had six assists and Jazzy Robinette had three assists.

Hannah Haithcock led Washington with two ace serves.

Delaney Greer led with five digs, followed by Madalyn Wayne with four digs.

Miranda Landis, Haithcock, and Faith Kobel all had two solo blocks. Haithcock had two kills and Kobel, Haley Maxie, Greer, Victoria Jones and Susanna Eckstein all had one kill each.

“London has a very well-rounded team,” Washington head coach Ashley DeAtley said. “They are a strong team that attacks the ball a lot and they were able to hit in all the places our defense wasn’t.

“After being beat two games prior, my girls fought back in the third game,” DeAtley said. “I thought we were going to take one from them and at least go four games, but we just couldn’t finish.”

Washington won its SCOL match at East Clinton Tuesday, 3-1.

Washington is now 2-2 on the season.

The Lady Lions are at Hillsboro Thursday.
