Miami Trace girls golf splits season-opening matches with Wilmington, Hillsboro

The Miami Trace girls golf team began the 2016 season with a home match at the Club at Quail Run Tuesday morning against Wilmington.

Miami Trace won this SCOL match, 255 to 267.

Miami Trace senior Lindsey Worley was co-medalist, along with Lindsey Murphy of Wilmington, both with nine-hole scores of 58.

Also for Miami Trace, senior Macey Stires shot a 62 and senior Tori Riley shot a 65.

Senior Makayla Eggleton had a score of 70.

Freshman Morgan Eggleton also carded a 70.

Shelbie Rowan, a sophomore, shot a 74.

Other scores for Wilmington: Heather Fryman, 64; Merideth Robinson, 72; Brooklyn Taylor, 73; Carrie Robinson, 76 and Mady Steinmetz, 80.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10, Miami Trace traveled to the Elks course in Hillsboro for another SCOL match.

Hillsboro won this match, 210 to 251.

Kristin Jamieson of Hillsboro was the medalist with a score of 39.

The low for Miami Trace was turned in by Makayla Eggleton with a 58.

Tori Riley shot a 63, followed by Lindsey Worley with a 65 and Macey Stires, also at 65.

Morgan Eggleton had a score of 66 and Shelbie Rowan shot a 76.

Other scores for Hillsboro: Emily Loudin, 52; Hannah Rumpke, 58; Madi Stratton, 61; Larkyn Parry, 67 and Abby Myers, 68.

Miami Trace will host McClain Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Club at Quail Run.
