WCH Little League begins 62nd season

The Washington C.H. Little League held its annual Opening Day ceremonies Saturday as it begins the 62nd season of chartered Little League in Fayette County.

A large crowd of parents, family and friends were in attendance as the eight Major Division and six Minor Division teams and their coaches were announced and took their places in the outfield.

Landon St.Clair of the Elks recited the Little League pledge.

Angie Mellott Tackett, Rotary President, had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. R.J. Foose of Mopars caught the first pitch.

After the ceremonies were concluded, the Mustangers and Mopars took fielding practice prior to the first game of the season.

Mustangers defeated Mopars, 34-8, in four innings.

The winning pitcher was Conner Bucher.

Hugh Silberman of Mustangers hit the season’s first home run.

Luke Rader and Alex Boles each hit a triple of Mustangers.

Pitchers in the game for Mopars were: Raliegh Haithcock, Cole Campbell, Ryan Crowe, Logan Krape, Isaac Hood and R.J. Foose.

In addition to Bucher, pitchers for Mustangers were Isaiah Smith and Josiah Whitt.

In Saturday’s second game, McDonald’s edged First State Bank, 17-16.

Aaron Dallmeyer was the winning pitcher for McDonald’s.

Offensively for McDonald’s, Andrew Guthrie hit a double; Rishaun Burns hit a triple and a double and Jonah Waters hit a home run.

Cayden Griggs hit a triple for First State Bank.

In addition to Dallmeyer, pitchers for McDonald’s were: Evan Lynch and Jonah Waters.

Pitchers for First State Bank were: Westin Melvin and Kylan Howard.

The season runs through June 24.
