Massie baseball stays unbeaten

The Washington Blue Lion baseball team hosted unbeaten Clinton-Massie on a beautiful Friday evening.

The Falcons won the ball game, 16-2 in five innings.

Massie is now 10-0 overall, 7-0 in the SCOL.

Wyatt Jefferson went five innings on the mound for the Falcons. He gave up 10 hits and two earned runs with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Cole Massie started for the Blue Lions and suffered the loss. He pitched 4.1 innings with 12 hits and 11 runs (10 earned) with one walk and one strikeout.

Jordan Flowers pitched in the fifth inning with one hit and one earned run allowed and Avery Wilson pitched two-thirds of an inning with three hits and four runs (none earned).

Massie began the game by posting two runs in the top of the first.

The Blue Lions got one run back in the bottom of the first.

The Falcons scored four runs in the second and Washington picked up a run in the third inning.

Massie scored one in the fourth and nine in the fifth.

Offensively for the Blue Lions, Jarett Patton had two hits and scored one run; Massie was 2 for 3 with one run scored and Nick Barrett went 2 for 2.

The Falcons had three players with three hits each.

Wolf was 3 for 5 with three runs and three rbi.

Murray went 3 for 4 with three rbi and two runs scored and France was 3 for 3 with a run scored.

The Blue Lions (now 7-4 overall, 5-4 in the SCOL) will play at home Saturday against Springfield Shawnee at 9 a.m. They will have a game at 2 p.m. against Zane Trace.

On Monday, the Blue Lions are right back in SCOL play, hosting Chillicothe.
