Lady Lion volleyball beats Hillsboro, falls to W. Brown

On Thursday, Sept. 3, the Washington Lady Blue Lion varsity volleyball team visited Hillsboro High School.

Washington won that Frontier Athletic Conference match in four sets.

On Wednesday, Sept. 9, Washington traveled to Western Brown High School to take on the Broncos in a non-conference match.

Western Brown won that match in three sets.

Against Hillsboro, the scores were 25-10, 24-26, 25-20 and 25-10.

In serving, Aaralyne Estep led with 8 aces, Mallory Hicks had 4 aces and Jeleeya Tyree-Smith had 2 aces.

Emily Semler led with 12 kills, Hicks had 6 kills and Brittney Wilson had 5 kills.

Allie Mongold had 13 set assists and Olivia Wayne had 12 assists.

Semler had 2 solo blocks and Hicks had 1 solo block.

Estep led Washington with 27 digs. Wilson had 13, Ellie Lynch had 12 and Semler had 11.

Washington lost to Western Brown with the same score for each set, 19-25, 19-25 and 19-25.

In that match, Olivia Wayne led with 4 ace serves. Mallory Hicks and Jeleeya Tyree-Smith each had 1 ace serve.

Brittney Wilson had 10 kills, Emily Semler had 7, Amya Haithcock had 3 and Tyree-Smith had 3.

Wayne had 13 set assists and Allie Mongold had 7.

Wilson had 2 solo blocks, Hicks had 1 solo block and 1 block assist.

Estep had 19 digs, Semler had 10 and Wayne had 6.

Washington (3-2 overall, 2-0 FAC) is at Waverly Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and home on Tuesday to take on Chillicothe, beginning with the j-v match at 5 p.m.
