Blue Lion track 5th at Fairweather Relays

CHILLICOTHE — The Washington Blue Lion boys track team began the 2016 season taking part in the Fairweather Relays at Chillicothe High School Saturday, March 26.

Washington placed fifth out of 10 teams with 43.5 points.

Zane Trace won the meet with 91 points.

Fairland was second with 70 points, followed by Chillicothe with 64 points.

Teays Valley was fourth with 62 team points.

The Blue Lions won the pole vault event with a combined height of 32’ 6”. Those vaulters were Liam Downing, Hunter Sever and Levi Davis.

Washington was second in the shot put relay with a combined distance of 111’ 8”. That trio was Mason McCane, Jordan Morris and Trevor Hicks.

In the discus throw event, Hicks, Morris and Kirkland Wilson placed third with a combined distance of 307’ 4”.

Washington took a third place result in the 4 x 400-meter relay in a time of 3:54.1.

That quartet was made up of Josh Trimmer, Branton Mitchell, Jerry Knapp and Underwood.

In the 800-meter sprint medley (100, 100, 200, 400), Washington placed fifth with a time of 1:46.10.

That relay was comprised of Ambition Corbin, Jacob Rice, Caleb Rice and Brandon Underwood.

The Blue Lions were seventh in the 4 x 200-meter relay in a time of 1:44.20. That team was composed of Jacob Rice, Caleb Rice, Knapp and Corbin.

Washington was seventh in the distance medley relay (800, 400, 1200, 1600) in a time of 13:05.1.

That team was Mitchell, Trimmer, Lee Shaffer and Chris Conger.

In the long jump relay, Washington took seventh with a combined distance of 50’ 8”. That trio was Jacob Rice, Caleb Rice and Shaffer.

Boys team results: Zane Trace, 1st, 91; Fairland, 2nd, 70; Chillicothe, 3rd, 64; Teays Valley, 4th, 62; Washington, 5th, 43.5; Alexander, 6th, 37; Madison Plains, 7th, 36; Westfall, 8th, 32; Fairfield-Leesburg, 8th, 32; Huntington, 10th, 16.5.

The Blue Lion track team will compete in the Nelsonville-York Invitational Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
