Blue Lion golf 2nd at FAC opener

HILLSBORO — The Frontier Athletic Conference held its first boys golf match of the 2020 season Tuesday at the Elks course in Hillsboro.

The Washington Blue Lions placed second with a team score of 190.

Hillsboro won the match with a score of 180.

Defending FAC champions Jackson finished third with a 191.

Chillicothe was fourth with a 194, Miami Trace was fifth with a score of 199 and McClain was sixth at 202.

“I’m really proud of my young men and the integrity and grit they’ve shown in the early season,” Washington head coach Shannon Bartruff said. “The Elks is a really tough place to play.”

Hillsboro’s Gabe Mycroft was the medalist (lowest score) with a 39.

Garrett Wahl led Washington with a 44 and for the Panthers, Gavin Cowden shot a 48.

Also for the Blue Lions, Ty Rose shot a 47, John Wall recorded a 49, Brice Cartwright, 50; Drew Ferguson, 53 and Luke Crabtree, 54.

Other scores for the Panthers: Christian Porter, 49; Collin Farrens, 50; Bryce Eggleton, 52; Caden Noble, 55 and Dillon Farley, 59.

Other scores for Hillsboro: Gavin Puckett, 46; Josh Crawford, 47; Brentley Watson, 48; Jack Rhoades, 51 and Lawton Parry, 55.

Scores for McClain: Carson Spangler, 48; Wes Potts, 49; Isaac Carrol, 52; Robby Wise, 53; Seth Wise, 54 and David Edwards, 54.

Scores for Chillicothe: J.T. Kobel, 43; Kayden Koch, 46; Jackson Bolen, 49; Jacob Lemaster, 56; Luke Smith, 57 and Wesley Scott, 61.

Scores for Jackson: Cameron Rose, 45; Caleb Rose, 48; Ethan Rasp, 48; Alec Gilliland, 50; Mason Hively, 52 and Braiden Lies, 54.

The next match for Miami Trace and Washington will be an FAC match at Jackson Tuesday.
