COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Xavier Simpson scored 23 points and Lima Senior had to withstand a late rally to beat Wilmington 61-58 in a boys Division I state semifinal Friday.

The Spartans (29-0) will play the Westerville South-Garfield Heights winner Saturday night for their first title.

Wilmington (27-2) trailed by 20 early in the third quarter but pulled to within the final margin with 8.8 seconds left on three foul shots from Jarron Cumberland. Cumberland had 25 points, including 12 of 17 from the foul line.

Simpson, the 2016 Associated Press Mr. Basketball and a Michigan commit, missed two free throws with 6.3 seconds left.

Cumberland, runner-up in the Mr. Basketball voting, got the rebound but missed a 3-pointer from 24 feet at the buzzer.
