MT 7th grade girls finish season with record of 9-8

The Miami Trace 7th grade Lady Panthers basketball team finished the 2015-16 season with a 9-8 record.

The team began the season with a record of 2-4, but turned things around with a strong 7-4 finish, beating teams they had lost to earlier in the year.

Miami Trace was the No. 6 seed in the tournament.

They defeated Hillsboro and Wilmington before falling by one point in overtime to Chillicothe in the semifinals.

The following is a recap of the final games of the regular season and the tournament.

On Jan. 28, Miami Trace defeated Clinton-Massie, 28-22.

Olivia Fliehman led Miami Trace with 12 points. She also had two rebounds.

Addy Little had six points; Aubrey Wood scored four points and grabbed five rebounds; Gracee Stewart had three points, five rebounds and two assists; Keyairra Helton had three points and six rebounds and Ella Coe had two points and six rebounds.

On Feb. 1, Wilmington topped Miami Trace, 42-20.

Keyairra Helton had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Olivia Fliehman scored 10 points and had two rebounds and one assist.

Gracee Stewart had six points, four rebounds and four assists; Addy Little had two points and one rebound; Aubrey Wood had two points and four rebounds and Ella Coe had four rebounds.

On Feb. 3, Miami Trace defeated East Clinton, 29-26.

Olivia Fliehman led the team in scoring with 12 points. She had four rebounds and one assist.

Gracee Stewart had six points, one rebound and two assists.

Keyairra Helton had six points and led the team with 10 rebounds.

Aubrey Wood scored three points and grabbed four rebounds; Gabby McCord scored two points and Ella Coe had two rebounds.

In the postseason tournament of SCOL teams, Miami Trace started off with a 32-22 win over Hillsboro on Feb. 6.

Olivia Fliehman led Miami Trace with 17 points. She also had four rebounds.

Gracee Stewart had six points, four rebounds and one assist; Ella Coe had four points, two rebounds and one assist; Keyairra Helton scored three points and led in rebounds with eight and Addy Little had two points and two rebounds.

On Feb. 17, Miami Trace defeated Wilmington, 30-25.

Olivia Fliehman led the Lady Panthers with 14 points.

Ella Coe scored six points, Gracee Stewart had five points and Keyairra Helton scored five points.

In the semifinals of the tournament on Feb. 18, Miami Trace lost to Chillicothe, 30-29 in overtime.

Olivia Fliehman led the way with 16 points.

Addy Little scored six points, Aubrey Wood had three points, Keyairra Helton had two points and Ella Coe scored two.
