Six local players honored by coaches

Basketball coaches from District 14 have selected the players for postseason honors for the 2015-16 season.

In Division II, six players from Fayette County received All-District 14 honors.

Washington High School senior Max Knisley was named First Team, All-District 14. He is also the Player of the Year for District 14.

Knisley averaged 20 points per game, as well as 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals per game.

He shot 54 percent from the field, 35 percent from behind the three-point line and 80 percent from the free throw line.

He was named First Team, All-SCOL for 2016.

Knisley has been chosen to play in the North/South All-Star game. The Division I and II North-South All-Star game will be played Friday, April 22 at 8 p.m. at Otterbein University in Westerville. It will be preceeded by the Division III and IV North-South game at 6:30 p.m.

Blue Lion senior Cameron Eckles was named First Team, All-District 14.

Eckles averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game. He also averaged 3 assists and 2 steals per game.

He was a 54 percent field goal shooter and was named First Team, All-SCOL for 2016.

Blue Lion junior Griffin Shaw was named Honorable Mention, All-District 14.

Shaw averaged 10 points and 4 rebounds per game.

He also averaged 1 steal, .5 blocks and 1.5 assists per game. He had a field goal shooting percentage of 49.5.

The Blue Lions finished second in the SCOL with a record of 11-3. Washington went 17-7 on the season, finishing as Sectional runners-up in the Division II tournament.

Three players from Miami Trace High School received honors from the coaches in District 14.

Junior DeAndre Pettiford was named Second Team, All-District 14.

Pettiford averaged 14.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He also averaged 1.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game.

Pettiford shot 45 percent from two-point range and 33 percent from three-point range.

He was named First Team, All-SCOL for 2016.

Junior Blake Pittser was named Second Team, All-District 14.

Pittser averaged 12.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He also averaged 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Pittser averaged 40 percent for two-point attempts and 31 percent for three-point attempts.

He was named First Team, All-SCOL for 2016.

Junior Tyrae Pettiford was named Honorable Mention, All-District 14.

He averaged 11.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

From two-point range, Pettiford averaged 47 percent. From beyond the three-point line, he averaged 25 percent.

He was named First Team, All-SCOL for 2016.

Miami Trace finished fourth in the SCOL with a record of 9-5.

The Panthers finished the season with a record of 16-9.

They won the Sectional with victories over Waverly and Washington. They lost in the District semifinals to Fairfield Union, 49-44.
