Blue Lion 8th grade boys go 6-8

The Washington Blue Lion 8th grade boys basketball team has wrapped up the regular season by finishing with a record of 6-8.

They went 1-3 in their last three games.

On Feb. 4, the Blue Lions traveled to Clinton-Massie for the final game of the regular season.

Washington came out strong in the first half led by Trevor Rarrick who scored 12 of his game-high 20 points.

The Lions went to the locker room with an eight-point lead and were able to maintain that lead going into the fourth period.

The Falcons would not go down without a fight.

Clinton-Massie got the lead down to three late, but the Lions’ strong free throw shooting down the stretch helped secure a seven-point victory.

Trevor Rarrick led all scorers with 20. Eli Lynch had 11 and Levi Ludwick scored 10. Garitt Leisure had five. Both Grant Kuhlwein and Gabe Arazo scored two.

On Monday, Feb. 1, the Blue Lions were on the road again against Greenfield.

Washington led the entire game, but in the fourth period the Tigers battled back and hit a shot to go up by two with mere seconds left. Washington was able to advance the ball up the court for one last shot but fell just short.

Trevor Rarrick led the Lions with 12 points and Garitt Leisure had 11.

On Thursday, Jan. 28, the Blue Lions traveled to Wilmington, losing to the Hurricanes 43-35.

Garitt Leisure led all scorers that night with 8 points.

The Blue Lion eighth grade boys will back in action on Monday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. for the first round of the SCOL tournament. The Lions will be playing East Clinton at East Clinton in the high school gym.
