Panthers beat Vinton Co., 62-53

McARTHUR — The Miami Trace Panthers made it back-to-back road wins over the weekend.

First, the Panthers defeated the McClain Tigers Friday night, 56-38.

Miami Trace followed that with a 62-53 come-from-behind win at Vinton County High School Saturday.

The Vikings had lost just three games on the season prior to Saturday.

Miami Trace improves to 10-7 with the win.

Junior Blake Pittser was the game’s leading scorer for the Panthers with 20 points.

Junior DeAndre Pettiford scored 13; sophomore Darby Tyree had 12 and junior Tyrae Pettiford had 12 points

Pittser also led his team in rebounds, with seven, followed by DeAndre Pettiford and Tyree, each with six boards and Tyrae Pettiford with five.

Senior Jordan Albright led the Vikings with 15 points.

Sophomore Naylan Yates scored 10 and junior Tristan Bartoe had nine points.

Vinton County led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter.

The Panthers took a 26-23 lead into the locker room at the half.

Miami Trace consolidated its lead with a 19-10 third quarter. The Panthers led 45-33 heading into the fourth quarter.

Vinton County scored 20 points to 17 for the Panthers in the fourth for the 62-53 final.

Miami Trace is at home Tuesday, taking on Clinton-Massie. The Panthers will host the Washington Blue Lions Friday.

Miami Trace travels to Unioto to take on the No. 2 team in the State, the Shermans, Saturday at 4:45 p.m.
