Lady Lions fall to Chillicothe

The Washington Lady Blue Lions hosted the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers in an SCOL basketball game Saturday night.

Chillicothe won the game, 55-43.

Senior Jasmine Jordan was the game’s leading scorer for Chillicothe with 19 points.

Sophomore Shawnee Smith scored 15 and junior Osh Brown had 12 for Chillicothe.

Freshman Hannah Haithcock led Washington with 11 points.

Junior Savannah Wallace scored nine points and senior Alexis Gray had eight points.

Chillicothe held a 12-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

At the half, the Lady Cavs led 30-22.

The second half was decided by four points, in favor of Chillicothe.

At the end of the third quarter, Chillicothe was in front, 42-31.

The Lady Cavaliers outscored Washington 13-12 in the fourth quarter for the 55-43 final.

“They were more physical and more aggressive than us,” Washington head coach John Persinger said. “Teams that are bigger, stronger and faster than us, we have trouble with. They get up into us and we just don’t handle that well right now.”

Chillicothe is now 6-3 in the SCOL, standing in fourth place. The Lady Cavaliers are 11-5 overall.

Washington is now 3-7 in the SCOL, in sixth place. The Lady Blue Lions are 6-9 overall.

Washington is at East Clinton Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Lady Lions win j-v game against Chillicothe

In the j-v game Saturday night, Washington beat Chillicothe, 32-25.

Raven Haithcock led Washington with 10 points.

Tahja Pettiford and Maddy Garrison were next, each with five points.

Meliah Johnson was the game’s leading scorer for Chillicothe with 12 points.

Hayden Price had eight points for the j-v Lady Cavs.
