Miami Trace routs SE, 65-35

Twenty-four hours after falling to their Fayette County rivals, the Washington Blue Lions, the Miami Trace Panthers were right back on the court at the Panther Pit.

Miami Trace quickly bounced back from a disappointing loss with a 65-35 trouncing of the Southeastern Panthers.

Miami Trace, now 7-5 overall, is back in action Tuesday night at home against East Clinton. The freshman game starts at 4:45 p.m.

Saturday, the Panthers were led by junior DeAndre Pettiford with 25 points. Pettiford was also in double figures with 11 rebounds.

Tyrae Pettiford (DeAndre’s twin) also turned in a double-double, with 10 points and a team-leading 13 rebounds (including seven offensive boards).

Junior Skyler McDonald scored nine and junior Blake Pittser had seven points.

Justin Dye led Southeastern with 15 points. The next scorer for Southeastern, Aaron Benson, had six points.

The game was close in the first half.

Miami Trace held a 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.

At the half, the game was tied, 22-22.

The second half, however, was a completely different story.

Miami Trace singed the nets for 26 points in the third quarter, holding the visitors to nine points for a 48-31 lead heading into the final eight minutes of play.

The Panthers had another fine offensive quarter in the fourth, scoring 17 and, on the defensive side, they held SE to just four points for the lopsided final, 65-35.
