FRANKFORT — The Washington Lady Blue Lion softball team played a non-conference game at Adena High School Thursday, May 3.
Adena won this game, 9-4.
Brooklyn Devenport was the pitcher for Washington. She pitched six innings with 13 hits and nine runs (seven earned) with nine strikeouts and three walks.
Abby Butler was the winning pitcher for Adena. She pitched seven innings with 12 hits and four earned runs. She walked four and struck out two.
Washington scored one run in the top of the first after the first two batters were retired.
Maddy Jenkins singled and scored on a double by Lilly Cowman.
Adena tied the game in the bottom of the first.
The second inning was the game-changer as the Warriors scored seven runs.
Adena had five singles, a triple and a home run, a walk and a Washington error.
The Lady Lions responded with two runs in the third.
Danika Marcum led off with a double and scored on a single by Corynn Chrisman.
Chrisman later scored on a single by Maddison Osborn.
Adena scored one run in the third for a 9-3 tally.
Washington scored its final run of the game in the sixth.
Destanie Leach walked with one out and stopped at second on a single by Marcum.
Chrisman then singled to load the bases.
Jenkins hit a fly ball to left field that allowed Leach to tag and score.
The Lady Lions will play at Fairfield Union in the Sectional tournament Wednesday at 5 p.m.
