Jackson softball beats Lady Lions

On yet another unseasonably cold April afternoon, the Washington Lady Blue Lion varsity softball team hosted Jackson in a Frontier Athletic Conference game.

Jackson hit five home runs in a 10-0 victory in five innings.

Washington had two hits in the game, coming from the bats of Maddy Jenkins and Brooklyn Foose.

Ridgeway had three hits for Jackson.

Hammond hit two home runs, while Banks, Bako and Evans each hit one homer.

Brooklyn Devenport started and took the loss in the pitcher’s circle for Washington. She worked 4.2 innings with 12 hits and 10 runs (eight earned) with one strikeout and no walks.

Jordan Kearns pitched one-third of an inning for Washington with no hits, no runs, no walks and no strikeouts.

Evans was the winning pitcher for Jackson. In addition to giving up two hits, she struck out 11 and walked two.

Jackson scored six runs in the third and four in the fifth.

Washington (1-5 overall, 1-2 FAC) will host McClain Wednesday at 5 p.m.

In other FAC games Monday, Miami Trace run-ruled Hillsboro, 13-3 and McClain beat Chillicothe, 11-4.
