Lady Panthers 4th at Sectional

CHILLICOTHE — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers golf team placed fourth at the Division II Sectional tournament held Monday, Sept. 28 at the Jaycees Golf Course in Chillicothe.

The team from West Union won the Sectional title with a team score of 418.

West Union had three freshmen on its team, along with one junior and one senior.

Freshman Alexandra Clark was medalist of the Sectional with a 94. Another freshman, DeAnna Caraway, shot a 99.

Westfall was second with a score of 435 and North Adams placed third with a 439.

Those three teams will advance to the District tournament Tuesday at the Upper Landsdowne Golf Course in Ashville.

Miami Trace placed fourth with a team score of 468.

Miranda Wheeler led Miami Trace with a 109.

Madisyn Callahan shot a 112; Katie Ziegler had a 117; Tori Riley shot a 130 and Lindsey Worley a 138.

“My girls played well today,” Miami Trace coach Chris Miller said.

McClain placed fifth with a 473.

Veronica Olaker shot a 94 to lead the Lady Tigers.

Other scores for McClain: Chantel Landrum, 121; Bryn Karnes, 128; Maddy Stegbauer, 130 and Elissa Grate, 140.

Sardina Eastern was sixth with a team score of 477.

Fairfield (Leesburg) was seventh with a score of 489.

For the Fairfield Lady Lions: Grace Larrick shot a 118; Chelsie Hester, 123; Rachel Schuler, 124; Kylie Potts, 124; Lauren Greene, 142.

Lynchburg-Clay was eighth with a 579.

Other schools with individual golfers were: Piketon, Zane Trace, Ironton, Wheelersburg, Unioto, South Gallia, Huntington and Peebles.
