Lady Lions fall to Logan Elm

As the regular season for high school tennis winds down, teams are setting their line-ups for the Sectional tournament that is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (Sept. 29, 30) at Portsmouth High School.

The Lady Blue Lions of Washington held a non-league match against Logan Elm Tuesday and both teams had their line-ups set for tournament play.

Logan Elm won the match, 4-1.

At first singles, Mackenzie Cress lost to Tiffany Smolinski, 0-6, 0-6.

At second singles, Jen Richards lost to Drayah Johnston, 2-6, 1-6.

At third singles, Yui Koyayashi lost to Emma Baldinger, 1-6, 0-6.

At first doubles, Megan Downing and Anna Nestor lost to Jessica Willard and Shelby Ward, 1-6, 6-7 (6-8).

At second doubles, Sierra Dawson and Maria Pickerill defeated Kendall Jones and Kendra Risner, 7-5, 6-4.

Washington and Logan Elm played three j-v matches with Logan Elm winning all three.

Camryn Waldrop lost 1-6 to Sam Smith; Chyna Cupp and Aubry Leonard lost 0-8 to Sarah Campbell and Melanie Cooper and Kayleigh Elzey and Ashton Carr lost to Sarah Campbell and Melanie Cooper, 0-8.

Washington will host Miami Trace Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
