Lady Panthers grab No. 1 seed

It will soon be basketball tournament time once again.

The drawing for the Southeast District was held Sunday and the Miami Trace Lady Panthers (17-2) were selected as the No. 1 seed.

The Washington Lady Blue Lions (17-2) are the No. 2 seed.

Miami Trace will play the winner of the game between No. 8 seed Waverly (7-11) and No. 9 seed McClain (3-14). Waverly will play McClain in a battle of Tiger teams Monday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at Adena High School.

Miami Trace will take on the winner of that game on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 6:15 p.m. at Adena High School.

Washington will play the No. 7 seed Hillboro (8-12) at AHS on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 6:15 p.m.

In the opposite bracket, No. 3 seed Unioto (14-4) will play No. 6 seed Logan Elm (9-8) after Washington plays Hillsboro at approximately 8 p.m. on Feb. 15.

The Sectional championship game is set for Saturday, Feb. 17 at 2:45 p.m.

If the Panthers advance, they will play the winner of the No. 4 seed Circleville (11-7) vs. No. 5 seed Chillicothe (7-12) Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.

Circleville plays Chillicothe Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. at Adena H.S.

At the top of the bracket, in games to be played at Logan High School, Vinton County is a No. 1 seed with a record of 16-1.

They will await the winner of New Lexington (No. 8, 1-15) vs River Valley (No. 9, 0-15).

In the adjacent bracket, Gallia Academy (No. 4, 9-9) will play Fairfield Union (No. 5, 5-12).

In the bottom part of the overall bracket, Warren is a No. 2 seed with a record of 15-2. They will play No. 7 seed Jackson (5-15) on Thursday, Feb. 15.

Sheridan is a No. 3 seed (15-3) and will play No. 6 seed Athens (3-16) on Feb. 15.

The District tournament semifinals are set for Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6:15 and 8 p.m. at Southeastern High School.

The District championship game is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. at Southeastern H.S.
