Blue Lions fall to Waverly, 78-55

WAVERLY — The Washington Blue Lions boys basketball team visited Pike County Tuesday for a non-conference game against the Waverly Tigers.

The Tigers came away with a 78-55 victory.

Ethan Adrian was the game’s leading scorer for Waverly, pouring in 32 points.

Jake Reed scored 17 and Cobe Marquez added 10 points.

Junior Dillon Steward led the Blue Lions with 16 points.

Junior Blaise Tayese scored 15 and sophomore Garitt Leisure had 12 points.

Waverly led 18-15 at the end of the first quarter.

At the half, the Tigers were on top, 41-27.

At the end of the third quarter, it was Waverly (13-3) holding a 68-38 advantage.

Washington (now 3-11 overall) is back at home and back in Frontier Athletic Conference play against the McClain Tigers Friday. The j-v game is slated to start at 5:30 p.m.

The Blue Lions have a make-up game at Adena High School Saturday, with the j-v starting at 6 p.m.

In other area games Tuesday, Lynchburg-Clay slipped past McClain, 46-45; Amanda-Clearcreek defeated Logan Elm, 72-53; Athens beat Jackson, 55-52; Bloom-Carroll topped Circleville, 60-42; Clinton-Massie beat East Clinton, 50-43; Madison Plains won over Columbus Horizon Science, 70-61 and West Liberty-Salem defeated Greeneview, 54-48.
