MT wins j-v boys game over Blue Lions

In the j-v boys basketball game between the Panthers and Blue Lions, which was the third of five games played at the Panther Pit on Saturday, Miami Trace won, 53-32.

Kyler Conn was the game’s leading scorer for Miami Trace with 17 points.

Trevor Barker scored 10 for the Panthers and Cody Brightman and Dylan Bernard each added nine points for Miami Trace.

Wyatt Cory scored five, Javin Robinette scored two and Trenton Crawford had one point.

For the Blue Lions, Trevor Rarick led with eight points.

Gabe Arazo scored seven and Mitchell Lotz scored five.

Hayden Burke and Eli Lynch both had four points and Drew Moats and Brandon Cubbage each scored two.

Brightman had one three-point field goal for the Panthers, while Lotz, Arazo and Rarick each had one three-pointer for the Blue Lions.

Washington was 5 of 10 from the free throw line, while the Panthers made 14 of 22 attempts from the charity stripe.

Miami Trace led 13-5 at the end of the first quarter and 25-17 at the half.

The Panthers led 35-22 after three quarters of play.

The Panthers improved to 3-6 overall, 2-3 in the FAC.

The Blue Lions are 0-5 in the FAC, 0-9 overall.

The Panthers play Madison Plains at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the opening round of the j-v McDonald’s Holiday Tournament at Madison Plains High School. Greeneview plays London Wednesday at 11 a.m.

The consolation game is Friday at 11 a.m. and the championship game follows at 12:30 p.m.

Washington is back in action Friday night at Adena High School at 6 p.m.
