Lady Lion volleyball beats Plains

The Washington Lady Blue Lion volleyball varsity and j-v teams visited Madison Plains High School Monday, Sept. 25, for a non-conference match-up against former SCOL rivals the Golden Eagles.

Washington won both matches.

In the varsity match, Washington won, three sets to one.

Scores of the sets were: 25-23, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-20.

Statistically for Washington, in attacks, Hannah Haithcock was 34 of 40 with 14 kills.

Faith Kobel was 19 of 21 with 8 kills and Rayana Burns was 23 of 23 with 6 kills.

In passing, Tabby Woods had 18 digs, Delaney Greer had 15 digs and Haithcock had 15 digs.

In serving, Maddie Jenkins was 21 of 23 with 6 aces; Kobel was 23 of 28 with 4 aces and Haithcock was 14 of 15 with one ace.

Setting was 106 of 108 with 20 assists.

Washington is now 6-7 overall with a record of 3-3 in the Frontier Athletic Conference.

Washington hosted Chillicothe Tuesday and will play at Jackson Thursday.

In the j-v match, Washington defeated Madison Plains, two sets to one.

Scores were: 27-25, 24-26 and 25-22.

Statistically for Washington, in attacks, Brittney Wilson was 20 of 22 with 2 kills; Mackenzie Truex was 15 of 18 with 3 kills and Mallory Hicks was 7 of 11 with 3 kills.

For passing, Emily Semler was 20 of 24; Ashlynn Thevenot was 18 of 22 and Hicks was 26 of 28.

For serving, Wilson was 12 of 15 with 3 aces; Hicks was 7 of 10 with 5 aces and Emma Funari was 7 of 10 with one ace.

In setting, Funari was 47 of 47 with 7 assists.

Washington’s j-v team is now 9-1 overall, 6-0 in the FAC.
