Panthers fall to Massie

EBER – The Miami Trace Panthers hosted former SCOL rivals Clinton-Massie Friday night, this time in a non-conference format.

For the 61st straight time – dating back to when Clinton-Massie joined the South Central Ohio League in 2005 – the Falcons stepped on the field with an SCOL opponent and left victorious.

This time on Friday night at Miami Trace High School, the Falcons came away with the victory, 55-6.

Clinton-Massie is now a member of the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference.

It would be tough to call it turn back the clock night considering the SCOL disbanded a little less than a year ago. But Friday came with the familiar Clinton-Massie SCOL staples – TDs every time the first string touched the ball, a running clock and 400-plus yards of total offense.

Christian Poynter had a career night with five touchdowns and 160 yards on 11 carries before the first string got the rest of the night off late in the third quarter.

Massie’s other scores came on a Grant Rudy 67-yard scamper, a Luke Richardson 23-yard return of a punt and a Cody Collingham 47-yd sprint.

Miami Trace’s lone score came on a Coby Hughes 34-yard touchdown grab from Brandon Arledge.

Massie remains unbeaten in four games this season while the Panthers fall to 0-4.
