MT season ends in Sect. finals

The Miami Trace Lady Panthers varsity softball team hosted the team from Circleville High School for a Sectional championship game Saturday, May 13.

Circleville won the game, 12-0 in five innings.

Circleville had 17 hits and committed one error.

Miami Trace had three hits and two errors.

Olivia Wolffe and Maddie Mossbarger shared pitching duties for Miami Trace.

They combined for six strikeouts and one walk. Wolffe was tagged with the loss.

Wickline got the win for Circleville. She struck out one and did not walk a batter.

“The kids hit the ball hard against Circleville,” Miami Trace head coach Joe Henry said. “Although we hit it right at them and they made nice plays. (Circleville) found the holes for (their) hits. Wickline pitched a great game against us moving the ball around and had a good defense behind her.”

Circleville scored one run in the second, seven in the third and four in the fifth.

Miami Trace had two seniors this year.

“They provided a lot of talent on the field and off the field,” Henry said.

Tori Riley played first base and third base has been on the varsity squad for four years. She was a member of the golf team, and was on the Final Four basketball team for the Panthers.

Riley will be taking another journey next year at The Ohio State University, where she will be continuing her education. She will be majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

Taylor Barrett played left field most of her career at Miami Trace. She was a four-year varsity player for the Lady Panthers. She was named First Team, All-SCOL this year. Barrett also was on the swim team and was the goalie for the Miami Trace soccer team.

Barrett will be attending Ohio Christian University to play softball and continue her Education.

The Miami Trace varsity softball team finished with a record of 15-6 this year.

“I was proud of all the varsity kids and the reserve team had a great year, too,” Henry said.
