MT softball to host Lady Lions in Sectional


Local teams meet for 3rd time this season May 10 at 5 p.m.

The pairings for the upcoming Division II softball tournament were released Sunday.

The Miami Trace Lady Panthers, sporting a record of 12-4, are a No. 2 seed.

They will host No. 7 seed Washington (1-13) on Wednesday, May 10 at 5 p.m.

The winner of that game will host the winner of the Circleville (No. 3, 12-7) vs. McClain (No. 6, 5-10) game on Saturday, May 13 at 11 a.m.

The team that emerges from those games will be a Sectional champion and will advance to the District semifinals on Monday, May 15 at 5 p.m. at Ohio University.

The upper part of the bracket has Jackson as a No. 1 seed with a record of 12-4. Jackson gets the winner of the Vinton County (No. 8 seed, record not listed) vs. Athens (No. 9, 6-15).

Unioto is a No. 4 seed with a record of 12-7. They host Warren (No. 5, 7-8) on Wednesday, May 10 at 5 p.m.

The Sectional championship featuring two of those five teams is set for Saturday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at either Jackson, Vinton County or Athens.

Hillsboro is a No. 8 seed (1-16). They will play at Sheridan (No. 1, 15-4) on Wednesday, May 10 at 5 p.m.

That winner will play the winner of the Fairfield Union (No. 4, 11-8) vs Logan Elm (No. 5, 10-10) winner of Saturday, May 13 at 11 a.m.

Chillicothe, a No. 7 seed at 7-14, will play at No. 2 seed Meigs (13-2) on Wednesday, May 10 at 5 p.m.

Rounding out the bottom of the bracket is No. 3 seed Waverly (14-9) hosting No. 6 seed Marietta (7-10).
