MT tennis claims back-to-back shutouts

On Friday, April 7, the Miami Trace Panthers tennis team hosted an SCOL match against the Hillsboro Indians.

Miami Trace won this match, five courts to none.

At first singles, Juan Diego Havas beat Daniel Jackey, 6-1, 6-0.

At second singles, Seth Leach blanked Spencer Brown, 6-0, 6-0.

Ely Schirtzinger won his third singles match against Andrew Gunderman, 6-3, 5-7, 10-7.

At first doubles, Thomas Bondi and Matt Fender defeated Austin Bumgarner and Gabe Gilliland, 6-1, 6-1.

Adam Ginn and Johnathan Allen took the second doubles match over Tyler Snapp and Austin Pendell, 6-1, 6-0.

The teams split a pair of j-v singles matches.

Miami Trace’s Todd Peterson beat Spencer Rudy, 8-4 and Isaac Abare lost to Ethan Snapp, 8-4.

On Monday, April 10, the Panthers visited Clinton-Massie for an SCOL match with the Falcons.

Miami Trace won this match, 5-0.

Juan Diego Navas won at first singles against Clayton Amburgy, 6-0, 6-1.

At second singles, Seth Leach beat Drew Keller, 6-0, 6-0.

At third singles Ely Schirtzinger defeated Joe Hammonds, 6-0, 7-6 (10-8).

At first doubles, Thomas Bondi and Matt Fender beat Pierce LeVangie and Zach Hammonds, 6-4, 6-0.

At second doubles, Adam Ginn and Johnathan Allen defeated Cole Isaacs and Drew Houseman, 6-0, 6-3.

The Panthers won a j-v match against the Falcons.

Jack Ivers and Devin Riggs defeated Mitchell Bills and Jason Martin, 8-6.

Miami Trace (3-1 overall) will host the Washington Blue Lions Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

The Panthers will take part in a tournament in Marion Saturday.
