MT girls 7th grade falls to Hillsboro, WMS

The Miami Trace girls seventh grade basketball team lost a recent pair of games in the final season of play in the South Central Ohio League.

On Thursday, Dec. 15, Miami Trace lost at Hillsboro, 25-21.

The young Lady Panthers held an 8-0 lead after one quarter and took a 13-7 lead into the locker room at the half.

Hillsboro rallied to go in front, 18-15 after three quarters.

Miami Trace had foul trouble in the fourth quarter as Hillsboro maintained the lead for the win.

For Miami Trace, Jarya Hassell led with six points.

Lorelei King scored five points and Libby Aleshire scored four points.

Makayla Barnes, Sidney Payton and Emma Pitstick each contributed two points for Miami Trace.

On Monday, Dec. 19, Miami Trace’s seventh grade girls team lost at home to Washington, 34-23.

Miami Trace scored the first four points of the game, but went scoreless the rest of the half to trail the Blue Lions, 18-4.

Miami Trace outscored Washington 11-4 in the third quarter to pull to within seven, 22-15.

The Lady Panthers got to within four points in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Libby Aleshire led Miami Trace with five points.

A quartet of players, Mallory Pavey, Jarya Hassell, Sidney Payton and Emma Pitstick, each scored four points and Lorelei King had two points.

Miami Trace completes play for the 2016 portion of the season with a game at Clinton-Massie Thursday.

The seventh grade game starts at 5 p.m. with the eighth grade to follow.
