PAINESVILLE — The Washington C.H. 12-year-old all-star baseball team had its State tournament run come to an end with a 12-2 loss to New Albany Monday evening.
Washington C.H. scored its first run of the State tournament in the top of the first inning Monday.
Ty Rose was hit by a pitch and scored on a two-out triple to center field by Dylan Bernard.
New Albany tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first on a single, a walk and a double.
New Albany took a 3-1 lead with two runs in the bottom of the second inning on an error, a hit batsman, a single and a double.
In the bottom of the third, New Albany scored five runs on six hits, including a double and a home run.
In the top of the fourth, Bernard led off the inning with a home run to left field.
Bernard had both hits and drove in both runs for Washington C.H.
Luke Zimmerman drew a walk for Washington C.H. in the top of the second inning and Rose walked in the third inning for the all-stars and Sterling Smith walked in the top of the fourth.
Also on Monday, Gallion Youth defeated Maumee, 10-2 to advance to play New Albany Tuesday.
Wheelersburg defeated Geneva, 13-2 and was to play Canfield Tuesday.
Mount Vernon will play Hamilton West Side and North Canton will take on Cuyahoga Falls in the championship semifinals Wednesday.
