Lady Panthers to host Lady Lions in volleyball Sectional Oct. 19

The pairings have been set for the 2016 Division II Southeast District Sectional volleyball tournament.

There will be a third meeting this season between Miami Trace and Washington.

Miami Trace (14-6) is a No. 3 seed and they will host No. 6 seed Washington (11-8) Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.

Miami Trace swept the regular season series with a 3-2 win at Miami Trace on Sept. 13 (25-17, 25-20, 16-25, 13-25 and 17-15) and a 3-1 win at Washington on Oct. 6 (25-10, 25-15, 18-25 and 25-23).

The winner of that match will play at the winner of the match between No. 2 seed Unioto (16-3) and No. 7 seed McClain (13-5). Those teams play Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.

The Sectional championship will be played either at Unioto H.S. or McClain H.S. on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 4 p.m.

Gallia Academy is a No. 1 seed with a record of 19-0.

They will begin tournament play hosting the winner between Waverly (No. 8 seed, 7-10) and Vinton County (No. 9 seed, record not available).

Warren (13-4) is seeded No. 4. They will host No. 5 seed Marietta (10-6) on Oct. 19 and the winner of that match will likely play Gallia Academy on Oct. 22.

The District semifinal, featuring two of the above nine teams, will be played at Southeastern High School on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

In the upper part of the bracket, Logan Elm (17-0) is the No. 1 seed.

They will host the winner of Fairfield Union (No. 8, 3-15) and Hillsboro (No. 9, 9-11).

Circleville (No. 4, 9-9) will host Sheridan (No. 5, 11-7).

In the bottom half of the upper part of the bracket, Chillicothe (No. 2, 16-5) will host Jackson (No. 7, 7-11) and No. 3 seed Athens (13-4) will host No. 6 seed Meigs (8-9).

Those Sectional championship matches will be played on Saturday, Oct. 22 and the first District semifinal match will start at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Southeastern H.S.
