Mossbarger says she’s qualified for auditor job

Dear Fayette County voters,

Please keep in mind I was contacted by the Central Committee’s attorney and asked whether I would consider a revote. I made this decision in an effort to get the matter settled without having a trial. Had I not agreed to a revote, a judge would have ultimately made the decision on how to resolve the issue.

I feel privileged to have been able to work in the Auditor’s Office for over 20 years. However, I could not bring myself to train Mr. Coole after his appointment. An opportunity presented itself and I felt it best to take advantage of that opportunity.

Mr. Coole claimed to have saved the taxpayers $80,000 in salaries. Being down two staff members leaves the office shorthanded. When the office is closed, it is not serving agencies, nor the community.

I know I can serve the public as it should be served. I have firsthand experience in the relationships the Auditor maintains with all county officials, townships, villages, school administrations, and the City of Washington.

Mr. Coole has taken credit for completion of a software conversion and update of property transfers. Both tasks were already in progress and on track to be completed in 2017, prior to his appointment.

I am qualified to do this job. I am confident the staff and I will continue to serve the public’s best interest.

Thank you,

Brenda Mossbarger
