Dear Editor and Perry Township residents:
At the special June 14 Perry Township board meeting, Brenda Hoppes Hughes was appointed by our trustees to fill the fiscal officer position left vacant by the passing of the township’s longtime FO Hap Smith. Prior to the appointment, board president Tom Chreachbaum read the procedures required by state statutes to fill the vacancy and noted that the board met all requirements, including the requirement to fill the vacancy within 30 days after the occurrence of such a vacancy.
Ms. Hughes, a resident of Perry Township, resides with her husband Max on Miami Trace Road. She is a graduate of Franklin Business University. She has held numerous positions over 27 years at Fayette Memorial Hospital, from which she recently retired. Please join me in congratulating Ms. Hughes and wishing her the best of success as our new fiscal officer.
The regularly-scheduled June board meeting was cancelled. The next regularly-scheduled board meeting is July 10.
