Everyone has a belief system that is developed over time. Many have different beliefs as they move through the different seasons of their life. I think of my beliefs 40 years ago, my beliefs 20 years ago, and my beliefs now. I have changed in the way I process things and the way I see life.

Recently we have dealt with a virus, I have changed what I believe to be true more than once and it has not yet been a year. I hear certain things and build an assumption on what I have been told. A short time goes by, I’m told something else and I change my belief on the virus. Certain things happen and they affect my perception on the issue.

Now the news is filled with stories of one side or the other. These stories affect me and my perception once again is changed. So many things that are said are not proven and to take them as fact is totally wrong but it is so easy to believe what we are being told. Behind much of what we accept is our bias toward the issue. We want to hear certain things so we are more likely to believe that side of the story.

Any belief is only as good as the information that it is based on. I can see how some of my past beliefs were wrong because they were developed on bad information. It has been proven that if we are experiencing anxiety we will accept bad advice therefore we will believe the wrong thing.

This time that we are experiencing seems to have no absolutes but there is good news. The Word of God says that His Spirit will lead and guide us into all truth. This is a fact and has been a fact for over 2,000 years. It has stood the test of time through more than 100 generations. God’s Word also lets us know that we do not have to be exceptional thinkers or highly intelligent to understand the truth He is giving us. I have decided to take God at His Word and believe that He will show me the truth and the truth will set me free!
