Getting Ahead: ‘My way’

0

We have all had to listen as others voice their opinion. Everyone has that right and I must admit that many times they can be successful in convincing us that their opinion is right. There are also many times when it is obvious that they are trying to make you think as they do.

I have seen people use various techniques to convince others that they are right. Some will raise their voice and be very aggressive in their approach. Others will persist in their opinion until you are worn out and you just give in. Then there are those that have very legitimate reasons for their opinion. Usually these people will present you with supposed facts in a very civil tone and lead you to believe that you are making the right decision that you will have to live with.

In the real world we do have to live with our choices and it does not make any difference how convincing someone has been in making us believe a certain way. As a matter of fact; the level of aggressiveness, the civil tone, or the continued persistence has nothing to do with an opinion being right or wrong. There is truth and there are half-truths which are not truth at all.

“My Way” might be the wrong way!!

How can we know if the voices we are hearing are right or wrong? How are we convinced to believe the wrong thing that can ruin our life and relationships? Can we be sheep being led to the slaughter by believing someone wanting it “My Way”?

These and other life questions will be addressed Sunday morning as “The Gathering Place Family” meets at 240 Courthouse Parkway in Washington C.H. for Bible Study at 9:30 and in the lobby at 10 a.m. for our Pre-Service Connection where we enjoy coffee, juice and donuts. Our Worship Service and Children’s Church then begins at 10:30. Come at 7 p.m. and be part of our Wednesday night Bible Study and Children’s Ministry.
