Many times, while I am working at my desk, I have the radio playing in the background. On one such day a radio personality was telling of his experience at the hospital in getting tests done. He had been having some physical problems and the doctors were trying to find out what he was suffering with.
According to his story, some of the tests performed were very unpleasant and even painful at times. Even though that happened, he continued to the next test. His body was hurting for a reason and it would not get any better until one of those uncomfortable tests found the problem.
Just as our body gets out of order, so does our life. We have things from time to time that cause us trouble and stress, and if not attended to, can ruin our life and relationships. When our body gets sick, we do not give a second thought about getting checked out. Like the radio personality, we will do whatever it takes to get well even if we have to go through some painful times to get there.
Why do we allow our life and relationships to get totally out of order while we go quickly to the doctor if we suspect that we have a physical problem? Can you imagine what would happen if we ignored the symptoms of cancer or an unbearable pain in our chest? Could it be that we are not willing to identify those problems that might take a lifestyle change to cure? Is the consequence of ignoring the pain in our life and relationships as deadly as ignoring cancer or check pains?
These and other life questions will be addressed Sunday morning as “The Gathering Place Family” meets in the Washington High School gymnasium at 10 a.m. for our Pre-Service Connection where we enjoy coffee, juice and donuts. Our Worship Service and Children’s Church then begins at 10:30. Come at 7 p.m. and be part of our Wednesday night Bible Study and Children’s Ministry on the third floor above Trends at 120 West Court St. in Washington C.H.
