What’s happening at Carnegie Library?

This week the Carnegie Library will host the Lego Challenge Race, Soil Sleuths, Reader’s Theatre, and three Fayette Field Trips: Fayette County E.M.S., Vermeer, and a Courthouse tour! For information about any of these programs, call today! The Children’s Department is also signing up participants now for July and August events.

Adults: On Saturday, July 11, paranormal author Tracee Ford will visit the library to promote and sell copies of her books. The Library Book Club will meet to discuss To Kill a Mockingbird on Friday, July 31, at 4 p.m. Whether you are reading it for the first time or the fifth time, we hope that you will join us. All ages are welcome.

The Annual Book Sale with AAUW is fast approaching! The library welcomes donations for this sale but prefers, because of space limitations, that items be delivered as close to the sale as possible. Proceeds from the sale help fund scholarships offered by AAUW and will become part of the library’s general fund to be used for building maintenance, collection development, and technology. This year’s sale will begin with a preview on Wednesday, July 29 at 3 p.m. Entrance for the preview sale is $2. The sale continues during normal library hours on Thursday, July 30, and Friday, July 31, and ends on Saturday, August 1, with the dollar-a-bag sale from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday will also feature My Sister’s House of Fayette County selling pop, hot dogs, and other goodies!

In Jeffersonville: Tuesday is Toddler Time! At 11 a.m. each Tuesday, come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, and socialize with other little friends. Each week is a new theme: Daddies! The Monthly Knitters & Crocheters Club will meet at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24 to make caps and hats for newborns and those with cancer. Then, on Thursday, June 25, at 11 a.m. we welcome Jenny Benedetti; local interpreter for the deaf community! Ms. Benedetti will be at Jeffersonville Branch Library to teach us the joys and challenges of being an interpreter and also teach sign language. She has planned a very interesting program! This program is for all ages.

Pick up a newsletter for details and a full schedule of summer events! Many programs require registration and may have age limits. Information about all of our programs can be found on the library’s website www.cplwcho.org or by calling the Washington Court House Library at 740-335-2540 or the Jeffersonville Library at 740-426-9292.
