About the time I get used to an operating system on my computer, I get a pop-up on my screen that an update is available. I have learned that the updates are not always the best option. There are things that I have to investigate. I need to know whether or not the programs I have installed in my computer will work with the update.

Many times the programs will also have to be updated to work with the update to the operating system. The other thing that enters into the equation is that there can be a cost attached to the updates. The first program that I had was a program called Nutshell and things have come a long way from that time. I now have a complete suite of programs at my fingertips and I use most of them almost every day.

Now my current operating system has become obsolete and is no longer supported. There are programs that I use that might not run on the newer operating systems because they were made for the outdated one that I have been using. When this happens it is no longer an update, now it is what they call an upgrade and you will pay for it. If what you have can no longer be fixed, an upgrade is inevitable. As we all know, things are not made to last forever.

Is life like a computer program that can be updated? Are there times in our life that we need to have a complete upgrade of our operating system? What if our operating system for life is working just fine but is no longer supported? Could there be something that last forever?

The answers to these everyday questions will be addressed Sunday morning at 7:30 on WCHO radio, 105.5 FM. Other life questions will be addressed Sunday morning as “The Gathering Place family” meets in the Washington High School gymnasium at 10 a.m. for our pre-service connection where we enjoy coffee, juice, and donuts.

Our worship service and children’s ministry then begins at 10:30. Don’t miss our Wednesday evening bible study and children’s church at 7 p.m. in the upper floors above Trends, 120 West Court St., right here in Washington C.H.

Check us out on Facebook at: “The Gathering Place.”
