The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following:

JUNE 8

TRAFFIC CRASH: Mohamed Nur, Memphis, Tenn., was attempting to back his semi-tractor trailer into a parking space at the Travel Centers of America truck stop, when his trailer struck the tractor of another truck that was already parked. The other truck was unoccupied at the time.

THEFT: Patrick Bryant, Bloomingburg reported person(s) unknown removed property from his residence without permission.

THEFT: Employees of the GAP Outlet, Tanger Mall report that two unknown females removed property from the business without paying for the merchandise. The Deputy checked the area and was unable to locate the suspects.

VIOLATION OF A PROTECTION ORDER: Fred Kidder, Hillsboro reported he is the protected person in a Temporary Protection Order issued in Highland Co. He states that while at his sister’s residence in Fayette County, the respondent in the Protection Order pulled into the sister’s driveway and honked the horn and yelled towards the residence. There was no direct contact between the two parties.

JUNE 7

TRAFFIC CRASH: Jessica Eggen, Beavercreek was stopped in the left turn lane to north bound I-71 from SR-435 behind a semi-tractor trailer. The truck, operated by Mykola Chenko, Sacramento, Calif., began backing up and struck the front of Ms. Eggen’s vehicle. Chenko was cited for Improper Starting/Backing.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Black Garringer, Hillsboro was south bound on SR-753 when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the fog traveled off the left side of the roadway into the ditch where he struck a culvert and the vehicle overturned. Mr. Garringer was cited for failure to control. Mr. Garringer’s vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.

AGGRAVATED MENACING: Larry Turner, Bloomingburg reported while at the Bottom’s Up bar in Jeffersonville, he was threatened by another patron with a firearm in the business. Upon the Deputies arrival the other party had already departed, but was later identified and was located at J’s Cafe. Upon questioning the suspect, he claimed following a verbal altercation with Turner, he was trying to depart the business, but Turner was blocking his path in an attempt to prevent him from leaving. He acknowledged at that point, he displayed the firearm and Turner allowed him to depart. The suspect had not been consuming alcohol and was legally carrying the firearm.

THEFT: Linda Burris, Jeffersonville reported person(s) unknown had taken several medications from her residence.

TELEPHONE HARRASSMENT: Tabetha Martindill of Washington C.H. reported she received several unwanted phone calls from a known female.

THEFT: Terry Marshall of Washington C.H. reported a known female used his personal information to obtain a credit card. The incident is under investigation.

THEFT BY DECEPTION: Cathy Chung of Jeffersonville reported after purchasing electronics from an unknown male subject and upon opening the package the items inside were found not to be the electronics she had purchased.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE: Sheriff’s deputies responded to Shady-Grove Jamestown Rd on a domestic complaint. Upon arrival all parties involved were identified and it was determined that no assault or threats of violence had occurred.

JUNE 6

NEIGHBOR DISPUTE: Shawn R. Barton of Washington C.H. reported he was involved in a verbal dispute with his neighbor.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Christopher T. Callender of Washington C.H. reported a known person trespassed on his residential property.

BREAKING AND ENTERING/THEFT: Virginia Frazier of Washington C.H. reported sometime within the past two weeks persons unknown entered an outbuilding removing a large kettle.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Michael Carroll of Fredericksburg, Va., was traveling on the lot of Flying J. Carroll attempted to travel past a parked vehicle on the lot striking the front right side. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles sustained minor damage in the crash.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Kelle Schmitt of Liberty was traveling South on IR 71 and struck debris in the roadway causing damage to her vehicle. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained minor damage in the crash.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS: William Cotner of Washington C.H. reported a known person arrived intoxicated at his residence causing a disturbance. Contact was made with the subject and he was advised not to return to Cotner’s property.

JUNE 5

BREAKING AND ENTERING/THEFT: Adam H. Hill of Washington C.H. reported sometime within the past seven days persons unknown entered his detached garage removing numerous hand tools.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Rachel A. Carr of Jeffersonville reported a known person had damaged her motor vehicle.

DOG BITE: Kelli Bartruff of Mount Sterling reported her six year old son was bitten by a canine.

THEFT/POSSESSION OF DRUG ABUSE INSTRUMENTS: Dennis Hughes of Xenia was criminally charged after stealing merchandise from the Jeffersonville Family Dollar Store. At the time of Hughes’ arrest two hypodermic needles were found his possession.

JUNE 4

TRAFFIC CRASH: David Pennington, Chillicothe reported he was stopped behind a semi-tractor trailer rig that was attempting to depart the truck area of the Flying J Truck stop. When the other vehicle, operated by Sergiu Tabirta of Mountain Lake Terrace, Wash., backed up, striking Mr. Pennington’s vehicle Minor damage was observed on Mr. Pennington’s vehicle and no damage to the trailer of Mr. Tabirta’s trailer. Mr. Tabirta was cited for Improper starting or backing.

BREAKING AND ENTERING/THEFT: Nicholas Straathof, Washington C.H. reported person(s) unknown removed property from his farm lot.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE: Betty Ruth, Greenfield reported she became involved in a verbal argument with her a known male. Both parties were contacted and neither claimed any threats or physical altercation. All parties were counseled concerning adult behavior.

BURGLARY/THEFT: Employees of Fayette County Early Learning Center in Jeffersonville reported the school had been forcibly entered overnight and property was removed.

JUNE 3

TRAFFIC CRASH: Nicholas Serio of Columbus was traveling northbound on I-71 at the S. R. 41 North exit ramp when Serio’s vehicle blew a tire. Serio traveled up the exit ramp, left of center, off of the west side of the roadway, striking a roadway sign. The vehicle suffered minor damages. No injuries were reported.

MENACING: Kyle Allen, of Xenia reported he was attempting to retrieve the last of his property from his former residence in Jefferson Twp., when he was threatened by a known subject. Allen was referred to the City Solicitor if he wished to pursue charges.

ASSAULT/TELEPHONE HARASSMENT: Landon Brown, Jeffersonville, reported during a custody exchange of children he was assaulted by a known person and later threatened by the same person. Brown declined to pursue charges in this matter.

MENACING: Meghan Spears, Washington C.H. reported a known subject made threats of harm towards her and her property to a third party.

JUNE 2

FELONIOUS ASSAULT: Brooklyn Knapp, of Washington C.H. reported she was assaulted at the Bottoms Up Bar in Jeffersonville, on May 30th. Upon seeking treatment at Fayette Memorial Hospital on a later date she was informed that her jaw was broken. The matter remains under investigation.

FOUND PROPERTY: The Attendant at the I-71 South bound Rest Area reported a passer-by turned in a Check Book, belonging to Charles Polson, Glasgow, Ky. The Check Book was surrendered to a Deputy and was secured at the Sheriff’s Office pending contact with Mr. Polson.

LITTERING/CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Sonja Kingery, Washington C.H. reported person(s) unknown deposited several bags of tree trimmings on her property without permission.

HIT/SKIP CRASH: A Palmer Road resident reported sometime overnight persons unknown ran a motor vehicle through his front lawn, striking a tree.

JUNE 1

DOMESTIC DISPUTE: A complaint was received that a female had been abducted from a Walmart parking lot by a known male. The alleged victim was located and was with the named male however denied being abducted and left willingly with the male.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Mathew D. Peters of Wilmington was traveling southbound on S R 753 approaching Robinson Road. Peters attempted to make a left hand turn onto Robinson Road when Peters was struck by a passing vehicle, operated by Teresa M. Everhart of Greenfield. Everhart attempted to overtake Peters’ vehicle while he was attempting his left turn, resulting in a motor vehicle crash. The vehicles suffered minor damages. No injuries were reported. Everhart was cited for improper passing.

THEFT OF DANGEROUS DRUGS: Deputies responded to a report of a theft of medication in the Fayette County Jail. Deputies determined that Whitney DeLong, a prisoner in the jail took medication that did not belong to her. DeLong was found in possession of some of the medication. The incident remains under further investigation.

PROTECTION ORDER VIOLATION: A female reported an alleged protection order violation. The investigation is still pending.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Lori K. Martin of Jeffersonville reported she was assaulted by a family member. Bradford D. Howard of Jeffersonville was charged in the offense.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE: Deputies responded to a verbal dispute between two family member after one became intoxicated. The female, Stephanie S. Lansing, became uncooperative with law enforcement units on the scene and was subsequently arrested and charged with obstructing official business and disorderly conduct by intoxication.
