The Washington Court House City Council met Wednesday evening in the administration office starting promptly at 7:30 p.m. with all council members – Dale Lynch, chairman, Ted Hawk, Jim Chrisman, Trent Dye, Leah Foster, Kendra Hernandez and Kim Bonnell – along with City Manager Joseph Denen in attendance.

The minutes from the Sept. 14 meeting were read and accepted by council members. The minutes from the finance and personnel committee were read by Chrisman and were approved by the council. The minutes of the economic strategies and cooperation committee were read and approved by council.

In the city manager’s report, Denen highly praised the successful return of the Scarecrow Festival and expressed great thanks to those people involved in planning the festival.

Denen also expressed his pride in all the staff at the city water plant. According to Denen, “the 0.33 per billion in 2015 and no detection in 2016 indicates that chromium six is not a danger to the city population. This is the water my child drinks, the water my wife drinks, and this is the water I drink.”

Denen also reported on the open house the fire department will be sponsoring on Sunday, Oct. 9 from 1 until 3 p.m. at the station on Market Street. Everyone is welcome. After all council members expressed their individual appreciation and praise for the Scarecrow Festival, the meeting was adjourned at 8 p.m.
